LEGAL & INFORMATION

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Animatronics Designer respects your privacy and aims to collect and use only the personal information reasonably necessary to provide the software, licensing, payments and customer support services.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, who may process it on our behalf, and your rights.

1. Who we are

Animatronics Designer is operated by Geoff Taylor, sole trader, United Kingdom.

Business correspondence address: SIU Offices, 4–6 Greatorex Street, London, E1 5NF, United Kingdom.

Contact: through the official Animatronics Designer support page and the business contact details published on the website.

For applicable data-protection law, Animatronics Designer is responsible for determining how and why personal information collected through its services is used.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you use Animatronics Designer, we may process:

• your email address;

• information associated with your purchase or subscription;

• Stripe customer, payment and checkout identifiers;

• licence type and permitted device limit;

• licence activation information;

• a hashed device identifier;

• device platform;

• an optional device label;

• licence activation, last-seen and revocation dates;

• purchase and licence-delivery dates;

• licence status;

• software download records;

• support messages and information you voluntarily provide when contacting support;

• refund or subscription-related correspondence; and

• technical information reasonably necessary to operate, secure and troubleshoot the licensing service.

Licence keys may be stored using encrypted and/or hashed representations as appropriate rather than being stored solely as ordinary readable text.

3. Why we use personal information

We may use personal information to process and administer purchases and annual subscriptions; issue and manage software licences; activate and deactivate permitted devices; enforce applicable device limits; maintain subscription and licence status; provide protected software downloads; process renewals, cancellations and refunds; provide customer support; investigate technical problems; protect the licensing system from misuse, fraud or unauthorised access; maintain records relating to transactions and licensing; comply with legal, accounting and regulatory obligations; and improve the reliability and security of the service.

We do not intend to sell customers' personal information.

4. Lawful bases

Depending on the particular processing involved, we may rely on one or more lawful bases under UK data-protection law.

Contract: where processing is necessary to provide software, subscriptions, licensing, downloads or support that forms part of our agreement with you.

Legal obligation: where information must be retained or processed to comply with applicable legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.

Legitimate interests: where reasonably necessary to operate, protect, troubleshoot and secure Animatronics Designer and its licensing services, provided those interests do not override your rights and interests.

Consent: where consent is specifically requested for a particular optional use of personal information.

Where consent is the lawful basis, you may withdraw that consent as permitted by applicable law.

5. Payments and Stripe

Payments and subscription billing are processed using Stripe.

Stripe may collect and process information required to process payments, manage subscriptions, calculate applicable taxes, prevent fraud, handle refunds and provide related payment services.

Animatronics Designer does not need to store your full payment-card details in its own licensing database merely to operate your software licence.

Stripe processes payment information according to its own applicable privacy and data-protection terms.

6. Licensing and Supabase

Animatronics Designer uses Supabase infrastructure for parts of its licensing and related backend services.

Information stored for licensing may include customer email addresses, licence information, Stripe identifiers, device identifiers in hashed form, platform information, activation records and related timestamps.

This information is used to determine whether a licence is valid and whether the permitted number of devices has been activated.

Service providers acting on our behalf may process personal information according to contractual and data-protection requirements applicable to those services.

7. Device information

When Animatronics Designer is activated, information needed to identify an activation may be transmitted to the licensing service.

The current system uses a hashed device identifier rather than requiring the licensing database to store the underlying device identifier in ordinary readable form.

Activation records may also contain the operating-system platform, an optional device label and dates showing when the device was activated, last seen or revoked.

This information is used to administer licence limits and allow legitimate licence activation and release.

8. Support information

When you contact Animatronics Designer support, we may receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include in your support request.

Please avoid sending sensitive personal information that is not necessary for us to resolve your request.

Support information may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary to resolve the issue, maintain relevant records, identify recurring technical problems or deal with a legal or contractual matter.

9. Downloads and technical records

The licensing system may maintain records relating to authorised software downloads and associated licence information.

Technical and security records may also be generated where reasonably necessary to protect the service, diagnose problems and prevent abuse.

10. Facebook and external websites

The Animatronics Designer website may contain links to external websites or services, including the Animatronics Designer Facebook community.

When you follow an external link, the operator of that service may process information according to its own privacy policy.

Animatronics Designer does not control the privacy practices of independent third-party websites.

Customers should not post licence keys, payment information or other private account information publicly in community groups.

11. Cookies and analytics

The current Animatronics Designer website does not intentionally use advertising or behavioural-tracking systems.

If analytics, advertising cookies or other tracking technologies are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy and any required cookie information or consent mechanisms will be updated before or when those technologies are introduced, as required by applicable law.

Third-party services reached through links from the website may operate their own cookies or similar technologies.

12. How long we keep information

Personal information will not be kept for longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, subject to legal, accounting, tax, contractual, fraud-prevention and dispute-resolution requirements.

Different types of information may therefore have different retention periods.

For example, transaction records may need to be retained for legal or accounting purposes even after a licence or subscription has ended.

Licence and activation records may be retained while necessary to administer the licence, maintain security, resolve disputes or comply with legal obligations.

We will review retention arrangements as the service develops.

13. Sharing personal information

Personal information may be processed by service providers where reasonably necessary to operate Animatronics Designer. These may include payment and subscription-processing providers; database, hosting and backend-service providers; email or customer-communication providers; website infrastructure providers; and professional, regulatory or legal advisers where necessary.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

We do not intend to sell customer information to advertisers or data brokers.

14. International processing

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, appropriate protections required by applicable data-protection law will be used where necessary.

Information about relevant safeguards can be requested through the Animatronics Designer contact methods.

15. Security

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information.

These include measures within the licensing system such as hashing certain identifiers, restricting database access and protecting licence information.

No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security, so customers should also protect their licence keys and account information and should not publish them publicly.

16. Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights including the right to be informed; request access; request correction; request deletion in certain circumstances; request restriction in certain circumstances; object to certain processing; data portability where applicable; and rights relating to consent where processing relies upon consent.

These rights are subject to the conditions and exemptions provided by applicable law.

Requests concerning personal information can be submitted through the official Animatronics Designer contact/support methods.

17. Automated decision-making

The licensing system may automatically determine matters such as whether a licence is active and whether the permitted number of device activations has been reached.

Animatronics Designer does not currently intend to use customer personal information for automated profiling for advertising purposes.

Customers who believe an automated licensing decision is incorrect can contact support for assistance.

18. Children's information

Animatronics Designer is not designed to intentionally collect personal information from children independently of a purchase or account relationship managed in accordance with applicable law.

If we become aware that personal information has been collected in circumstances where it should not have been, appropriate steps will be taken.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as Animatronics Designer develops, including where new platforms, hardware support, services or service providers are introduced.

Where a change materially affects how personal information is used, appropriate notice will be provided where required.

The current version will be published on the official Animatronics Designer website.

20. Complaints

If you have concerns about how Animatronics Designer handles your personal information, please contact us first so that we can investigate.

You also have the right to raise a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) where applicable.

Information about data-protection rights and complaints is available from the ICO.
